About
Newfound Farm Wool Works began in 2006 as Newfound Farm Clothing Company, with children’s apparel, mittens and hats made from felted, recycled sweaters. Production of these popular items continues strong today. (You may see these one-of-a-kind items in The Store.) I loved the challenge of creating useful and beautiful heirloom quality clothing from “discards”.
In 2007 we moved to a renovated farmhouse with its own “wooly” history. In the early 1800s, New Hampshire was abundant with sheep farms, and this farm was no exception. I’m especially proud to return the farm to sheep-based industry with wool processing.
Now it’s possible to bring your fiber to be washed, and picked and carded on Patrick Green machines. In an age of complex, computer-run mechanization, these machines are beautiful to look at and watch in operation.
Because NFWW is a small company, it’s possible to work in small lots to your specifications.
In addition, hand spinning, dyeing and felting services are available. Classes in these areas are planned for early 2010.
Processed wool isn’t relegated to just spinning anymore. With the 40″x50″ Mini Mills felting table, we can turn your fiber into rugs, insulated window blankets and felt for vests and other items. Add your own color for a unique design.
Please contact me to discuss your special need and class interest.
And thank you for your business!
